![]() The game would simply pop up an error message when I tried to launch it. ![]() But a Dell XPS 13 with an Intel Core i7-1065G7 and Intel integrated Iris Plus graphics was a no-go. ![]() Also great was a gaming laptop with an Intel Core i7-8750 and a Nvidia 2080 Max-Q GPU. On a desktop with an Intel Core i7-6700 and a single Nvidia 1080 GPU, it ran great, even at 4K resolution (yes, it was hooked up to my TV). ![]() In most cases, it'll simply refuse to launch, as noted by many beta testers in the game's beta forums. The game does not support even Intel's better Iris GPUs. You're also out of luck if you're trying to play on a laptop without a dedicated Nvidia or AMD graphics card. making D2:R work on an ARM processor is like trying to stuff a square peg into a round hole. That's too bad, because I think this game would have been perfect for a 24-inch iMac, and I've been able to play games like Baldur's Gate 3 and Hades perfectly fine on an M1 MacBook Air. Making games on the ARM processing platform and having them properly communicate to the server that is meant to function and communicate with an x86/64b platform is a huge issue.ĭ2:R isn't a NEW game, they're basically just putting a facade over the OLD game. There is a reason the WoW version on the M1/ARM platform runs on a guided virtual framwork, because without it, the game would not function at all. ![]() it costs a HUGE amount of money to fund re-coding of old games for different architectures and making it work properly with other architectures. I don't know how much you know about computing, but changing their entire platform over to an ARM based processing architecture is a huge move and is NOT developer friendly. MacOS is not what the problem is here, programming for MacOS on an x86 architecture or a 64b Kernel is not much harder than programming for Windows (on the same platform.) Blizzard also had years to prepare for the ARM move by Apple, they were given a huge amount of notice for that. ![]()
